Yeh Dil Aap Ka Huwa
Salman Iqbal the dynamic Chief of ARY TV and Javed Sheikh Director/Actor have joined forces to launch the new Pakistani Movie‘YEH DIL AAP KA HUWA’
I think Javed Sheikh made a very good decision to join hands with Salman Iqbal because this gives the movie a guaranteed marketing edge and what else has made a real big difference is getting TAG media to launch it in UK. Tag Media ‘s Ebba Qureshi and Dal Singh organised such a wonderful launch that I was well impressed, launch was professional, elegant, and above all the stir TAG media caused in not only the ethnic media but also in the main stream media is unprecedented The press launch took place on the 12th December 2002 in the heart of London’s Piccadilly at newly refurbished `LE MERIDIAN hotel. This is most unusual phenomenon and a departure from norms of Pakistani movie launches in London, normally there is never a press launch or a premier, so why is it happening this time what’s different about this movie? This movie has broken all the box office records in Pakistan where it has been playing in Cinema’s for few weeks already.
It seems to have broken all the moulds of movie making in Pakistan and now it’s threatening Bollywood’s monopoly of presenting Asian movies in the West. This is good news for Pakistan and its cultural representations in the Western countries. We had the pleasure to meet and mingle with the star cast of the movie and other people who were instrumental in making the movie. It was certainly a myth breaking meeting as general perception is that Pakistani movie stars are usually not that professional but I was most impressed with Javed Sheikh and Sana not only they went through details of their work but also were very receptive to any criticism , and they explained the whole setup too.
Sana is much more beautiful in person than on the screen and also is very pleasant, well presented and very confidant and I do think she will be able to change perception of Pakistani movies and their standards. Javed Sheikh is a well known pillar of Pakistani movies and has taken a bold step to make a movie with a difference; he has spared no effort or money to make it the best ever, He is very friendly and professional and I was impressed with his technical knowledge as well as his friendly mannerism. This meeting has changed my view of Pakistani movies and its stars I used to think that the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman, Hirthik and Ashwariya had no match in Pakistan but this has been an eye opener for me meeting Sana Salem Sheikh is very presentable and looks so innocent and laid back but I do not think he is really that innocent he has something up his sleeve……………… Behr’s Seaware was there too with his wife who designed all the outfits for the movie and did a wonderful job of that too This was like meeting some old buddies from Lahore really, and the movie has proven to be of great interest to the public at large in London. Where I spotted many Indians as well as English people too, lets hope Pakistan Film industry goes from strength to strength………………………we be watching
