ASGAR AND MOUSTAFA Asgar and Moustafa, two of the most established names on the
London hairdressing scene recently joined forces to create their new salon on 59
George Street, SW1. The Asian Outlook visits the winning team to find out more.
Celebrities, royalty and even supermodels have all undergone the Asgar and
Moustafa treatment and it's no surprise that they keep coming back. They are two
of the most trusted names in the hairdressing industry and since Moustafa
recently left his partnership at the Hilton in Park Lane to join Asgar at his
salon on George Street, one of the strongest alliances in hairdressing was
formed
Although the Asgar and Moustafa name is new, Asgar's
history with the premises at 59 George Street stretches back to 1975, when he
was an apprentice at the salon's previous carnation under Daniel Galvin - one of
the most famous names in hairdressing.
To celebrate the new alliance, the salon has undergone a transformation,
which includes a fabulous new beauty salon downstairs. "We wanted to offer full
beauty experience", explains Moustafa, "and by offering the best beauty
treatments our clients can experience an all over transformation".
Walk into Asgar and Moustafa and you'll find a varied
clientele who have trusted their tresses with the duo for years. There's the
ladies who lunch who are simply addicted to feeling good, the young models and
actresses whose careers depend on looking good and when international royals are
in town, 59 George Street is their first port of call.
The interiors of the salon are sleek and elegant and a tropical fish tank
is the salon's famous focal point, which keeps customers entertained while
they're waiting for their treatments to develop. But you'll never feel alone
because the affable staff are always on hand to pass you the latest copy of
Vogue and a cup of coffee.
Backed up by a team of specialist stylists, Asgar and
Moustafa achieve some of the most cutting-edge styling for the younger
clientele. Asgar is no stranger to the fashion scene and from early on in his
career he was styling for magazines with Cindy Crawford being just one of the
models he transformed for the front cover of Harpers.
Asgar and Moustafa's wide ranging experience means that they are able to
achieve the right results for a variety of hair types and they have particular
expertise with Asian hairstyling. It's a well known fact that many of the famous
Bollywood stars have visited Asgar while in the UK but when I ask him to name
names he refuses but in the nicest possible way.
"My customers have become my friends and I would never
divulge any details about their private life. They don't just trust me with
their hair but also their privacy".
It's a well-known fact that hairdressers are some of the best counsellors
going so it's reassuring to know that your private business as well as your hair
is safe in their hands.
Part of the success of the salon is the fact that the stylists approach the
customers in an honest and understanding way. People visit them time after time
because they have a real vision for what clients actually want and the stylists
always spend time on a consultation where they'll advise you on the best style
for your face shape.
"It's important to spend time listening to customers. We
don't just want to meet customer's expectations but we aim to exceed them.
There's nothing better than seeing our customers happy".
And full customer satisfaction is obviously the norm. When you look at the
pleased expressions on the clients faces as they walk out of the salon you can
see that Asgar and Moustafa don't just make you look good but you feel good
too.
