The Media War

"This is a war not like the wars before "so said President Bush and rightly so too. And it's getting dirtier and even more unusual by the minute. The real war front is not in Afghanistan or Pakistan or New York the real war is being fought in the media.

America firing through ABC, BBC, CNN, NBC and various other mediums putting their point of view forward, and the only fighting force on the other side is Qatar Government run AL-Jazeera which has broken the monopoly of western media around the world and has made them accept the high standards of journalism and independence and resourcefulness with much less resources than the western media.

And Qatar Government and people must be congratulated for this very unusual phenomenon in the Middle East called "Freedom of Press" normally independent Media sources in the Middle East are subject to enormous pressures and punishments by their respective governments to make them tow the government line, but here even after pressure from US government the Qataris have refused to dictate to Al-Jazeera and let them be independent.

Generally Qataris have been much more relaxed than various other sheikhdoms, hence the people of Qatar seem to have matured much more due to free flow of information and criticism and has made them more democratic than their peers and having a global view point. Lets hope this positive change continues and bears fruit for the Government and people of Qatar.

I was utterly amazed to hear that US had asked Al-Jazeera to be tamed and controlled; can you imagine Qataris asking the USA or UK to stop CNN or BBC from using bias against the Muslim countries?

Few days ago there was a report by BBC on-line of President Musharaf's press conference in Islamabad where they portrayed President Musharaf as being nervous in front of the world press.

BBC quoted "General Musharraf, visibly nervous as he began his first press conference since the strikes, " unquote.

This is the limit of grossly incorrect and biased reporting by the western media even after Musharaf committed his support for the Effort by the west against all odds and extreme pressures he is still portrayed as not of world stature,

I would say Musharaf has shown to be a better match than President Bush in handling the crisis and being forthright he has taken every step with great care and thought for his country and his people.

After the tragic events of 11TH Sep America should have learnt to get to the real root cause of international terrorism, but it seems right now that rhetoric has engulfed everyone and the emphasis has moved to spend billions of dollars on trying to destroy already devastated Afghanistan and its poor people.

Cruise missiles, which cost millions of dollars each, are being used to kill goats on the mountains of Afghanistan.

Our hearts go out to the victims of WTC terrorist attacks and the American people who are going through some awful times not knowing what's going to happen from one minute to the next the whole of USA feels under siege.

The real solution to deal with these terrorists is to tackle the fundamentals of the issue, which is Israel's state terrorism in Palestine, and non-stop murder of men, woman and children on both sides by the extremists.

Its not just Palestinians who are suffering but also many peace loving Israeli's are victims too again the Media bias is evident here too when a Palestinian is murdered by the Israel's army its reported as "Palestinians claimed" but when Palestinian react or throw stones they are reported as "terrorist mobs" and "Murderers"

I think its high time that America which is founded on Justice must stop supporting state terrorism of Israel and let there be peace by helping both sides and bringing them to peace talks and get the western media for once report without bias.
