Flying around the world has become so common that there are people in some
countries who have never been on a train but they have flown.
Flying is here to stay as much as the Internet is part of our lives now.

Millions and millions of people fly around the world everyday and due to
recent reports in the media of a young lady dying after her long flight
it has highlighted how important it is to travel the right way the easy
way.

On some long haul flights I have seen some people just spending all 12-14
hours in their seats that's very bad news its amazing some people would
not even get up to go to the washrooms I fail to understand how they manage
it.

The best thing to do is to make the most of your flight whether it's a long
or a short flight and you will get as much out of it as much as you put
in.

Here are some very useful tips to have an easy flight and live longer.

1-Avoid Dehydration

One of the major causes of Jet lag is dehydration the aircraft is an extremely
dry place comparing to ground level its about 60% less humid which makes
you feel exhausted and can cause severe headaches and dizziness.

The golden rule is to avoid Alcohol, Tea Coffee and allsorts of fizzy drinks
during your flight and drink as much water as possible this will not only
keep you fresh but also generate few trips to the washroom, which is a form
of exercise.
Take a bottle of water with you and once it is finished refill it either
from the drinkable tap or ask your cabin crew to help.
You will be amazed at the difference the water makes to your flight comfort
level.
Use facial and nasal water sprays to keep the face moist and fresh it also
decreases dehydration if a moisturising cream is used during your flight.

2-Do not stay in your seat

Moving around in the aircraft can be very difficult particularly while food
or drinks are being served or flight is going through turbulence.
Sitting in one place for long periods can cause severe problems particularly
if you suffer from deep-vein thrombosis or varicose veins.

Lack of movement or pasture increases risk of blood clotting or thrombosis
and if the clot reaches certain parts of your body it could cause fatality.

Make every effort to get up from your seat and walk around as much as you
can or even if you can stand up in a corner for a few minutes do some body
exercises which will increases blood circulation

Even if you are unable to get up from your seat you can simulate walking
in your seat or other gentle exercises, which will help circulation and
keep you fresh.
Take some deep breaths and let out slowly.

3-Eating fit for flight

Keeping your in-flight food simple and light reaps dividends as the gases
in your stomach expand by as much as 25 percent during your flight and result
in blotted ness.
Do not have fizzy drinks or heavy meals up to 4 hours before or during your
flight as it will increases risk of indigestion.
Avoid bread in all its forms and only eat very light healthy meals excluding
fatty foods as much as possible.
Don't forget during the flight you will need less food than you normally
eat because of expansion of bodily gases so leave that much extra room.

4-Breath Healthy
Air quality in the Aircrafts can be very unhealthy as circulation is poor
and air within the cabin keeps on going round and round so it carries numerous
germs from everyone in the aeroplane it could also include fuel fumes consumed
by the aeroplane.
Thanks God that most airlines have become completely non-smoking these days,
which has resulted in, a great leap in quality of Air inside the Cabin.

It's not very practical but use of a facemask is on the increase during
a flight particularly while sleeping or just sitting down it does screens
out majority of germs and smells
Most major Airlines now provide a face
mask in their in-flight kit offered to most passengers but if not sure its
worth buying one from your health store before you get to the Airport.

5-Save Your Ear Drums

If you suffer from colds, hay fever, Nasal Allergies or Nasal congestion
than you are highly likely to suffer from Ear Pain or temporary loss of
hearing during your flight particularly during take off and landings as
the air pressure in the cabin changes.
So its ideal to talk to your Doctor or Pharmacist to take some decongestant
a little before your flight and also carry something like gum or boiled
sweets to swallow during take offs and landings which will ease off the
pain
