Chand Raat Eid Festival in Sydney
Sydney (Tribune Report): Pakistani living in Sydney celebrated Chand Raat Eid Festival with great enthusiasm, traditional festivity and cultural fervour. There was a lage turned-out from various parts of Sydney and Suburbans. Between 2 to 3 thousands Pakistanis mostly families attended this unique and popular annual event organised by Community Services (PCS) of Australia.
This year Chand Raat Eid Festival was held on 4th of December 2002 at Belmore Boys High School, Belmore (Sydney). The Festival started about 8.00pm and ended late night (about 2.00am). A large number of people along with their families from Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Indonesian, Malaysian, Lebanese and other Muslim Communities attended with great interest enthusiasm. Variety of stalls from garments to food, women needs and children rides were placed in this festival.
Chand Raat Eid Festival has been organised for the last five years by Syed Atiq-ul- Hassan and Surraya Hassan under the banner of Pakistan Community Services (PCS) of Australia. Every year the people mostly the families attend this festival mainly for Eid celebrations, get-together and last minute Eid shopping. Chand Raat Eid Festival is a unique festival of its kind in Sydney.
