Just the change of an alphabet

Abid Ullah Jan

Imagine how many thousand people will again get killed, maimed and enslaved just with the change of an alphabet. Imagine the recent horrific bombing, illegal invasion and its consequence in Iraq, and be assured that the same is bound to happen again with just the change of a single alphabet from “q” to “n”.

A quick look at the most recent headline reminds sequences and wording of all the stories that preceded Mr. Bush’s war on Iraq. If there is any difference it is that “q” is replaced with “n”. It is now the same words, used for the same lies, in the same manner, through the same sources and directed at the same gullible Americans, who do not have the stomach to ask their leaders to answer for the lies that justified the war and occupation.

Have a look at the headlines: 1. “Intercepts Show Senior Al Qaeda in Iran Played Role in Saudi Bombings.”[1][1] “U.S. Demands That Iran Turn Over Qaeda Agents,”[2][2] “U.S. officials seek change of regime.”[3][3] “U.S. Eyes Pressing Uprising In Iran Officials Cite Al Qaeda Links, Nuclear Program.”[4][4] “US prepares to undermine Iranian government.”[5][5] “The Australian Foreign Minister, Alexander Downer, delivered a tough, last-chance call to Iran to crack down on al-Qaeda terrorists allegedly in the country.”[6][6] “Pentagon sets sights on a new Tehran regime

UK and state department reject blunt approach.”[7][7] “Tehran demands U.S. prove claims that Iran is harboring al-Qaida leaders.”[8][8] “Washington to take on aggressive stance against Iran.”[9][9]

According to the New York Times report, the United States is pressing Iran to hand over operatives of Al Qaeda “believed by American intelligence officials to have been working in Iranian territory, Bush administration officials said Sunday.” Is it not the same intelligence officials and the same Bush administration officials, who were showing weapons of mass destruction to the United Nations until recently? Would the Americans really believe what their intelligence and political official tell the same all over again in a changed context for a different country?

The mystery of the disappearing weapons of mass destruction is Iraq has not yet solved. The mystery of US intelligence clueless-ness about the happening of 9/11 has not yet solved. The unaccountable US administration and intelligence officials have yet to explain their previous failings, which have taken thousands of lives at home and abroad. It is a tall claim on their part of the lying officials that within hours of the attack in Saudi Arabia they came to know that Iran had a hand in it. Why did they not come to know a day before, or at least an hour before the attack to save a few lives? Why just “shortly after the bombings in Riyadh,” as the New York Times reports?

It is a matter of changing a single alphabet for the US administration and its embedded journalists in the duty-bound mainstream media. But, it’s a matter of life and death for millions of Americans and non-Americans. It is a matter of peaceful coexistence of 6 billion people and different civilizations. Armed with unimaginable amount of weapons of mass destruction, the lying and absolutely unaccountable administration in Washington has become the most serious ever threat the human kind has ever faced.

For how long would this totalitarian administration create an emotional tension in its citizens as well as totally benign countries abroad. The acts of the American and other citizens is determined by the tension and pressure they face at the hands of all powerful Washington.

When people are divided into ‘with us or against us” — "loyalists" and "terrorists" a premium is placed on every type of conformist, coward, and hireling; whereas among the "terrorists" one finds a singularly high percentage of people who are direct, sincere, and true to themselves and their fellow human beings. From the future and peaceful coexistence of human kind point of view these persons would constitute the best guarantee that the demi-gods in Washington behave humanly. The so-labelled supporters of terrorists and disloyal   have no other crime on their conscience except their contempt for the hegemons, or their incorrect evaluation of their might.

It is time for the world to stand up to tyrants and say enough is enough. Tomorrow it will be too late.
